The team is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transport of goods using cost-effective measures. Import managers organize the best means of transport; be it by air, road, rail or ship based on the type of goods, customer needs and the size and type of organization with which the department works.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Importation Department

  • Acquiring the registration license for newly imported products and following up on the registration file for each company at the Ministry of Health.
  • Issuing purchase orders for imported products affiliated with various agencies.
  • Receiving and following up on all shipments including:
  1. Receipt of the shipment at customs.
  2. Obtaining the approvals of the Drug Policy and Planning Center or pharmacies.
  3. Guaranteeing access of the shipment to stores. Employing the best means of transport, routes and any special requirements in the handling and care of goods being transported.
  •  Following-up on the inspection procedures of the goods by the Ministry of Health until their release and sale in the market.
  • Opening letters of credit for each shipment.
  • Following-up on contracts with all companies and legalizing them.
